The State Government will tonight launch the biggest annual event on the youth calendar, SA Youth Week.
This year’s theme, Your Future – Your Way, emphasises young people’s role in shaping their own futures and the contribution young people make to the South Australian community.
“This theme highlights young people’s role in shaping their lives and, in doing so, shaping directions for South Australia,” said Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink.
“The State Government has a strong plan to stop the brain drain, retain our youth and provide young people with a brighter future in South Australia.
“The Government is committed to creating more job opportunities for our youth, improving the education system and also has a plan to help troubled youths struggling with drug issues.
“The SA Youth Week theme emphasises the value of young people’s ideas, skills and resilience in local communities, and the benefits their wide variety of backgrounds, identities and perspectives bring to us all.
“SA Youth Week is an opportunity for the community to appreciate and value our young people and give them the opportunity to be involved in these events being held across the state. Many of them have been organised with the involvement of young people.
“SA Youth Week also aims to inspire young people to achieve their goals in ways that suit their unique circumstances and needs.
“Activities and events held across the metropolitan Adelaide and in regional areas will highlight the significant contributions young people make to their local community and to South Australia more broadly.”
