Liberal Party

Liberal values
Liberal philosophy embraces the family, freedom and enterprise.
Liberals believe that people should be supported to achieve their full potential while providing a safety net for those who aren’t able to provide for themselves. We also believe that governments should not restrict the legitimate activities of its citizens. Intervention is only necessary when people aren’t able to sort out their own affairs or in times of market failure, otherwise the cost of administration stifles economic activity.
This is in contrast to Labor’s philosophy, which is driven by the union movement. Labor’s approach believes in centralised systems and interventionism. Such policies are often focused on increasing the bureaucratic control.
The Liberal Party
The Liberal Party is organised into local branches which host events, debate policy and current affairs as well as supporting their local MP or candidate. You can find our press releases, Liberal Party news and download a membership form from our website: Liberal Party
The Liberal Party has a number of committees and councils which reflect our diverse membership. We have a Women’s Council, Rural and Regional Council, Multicultural Committee and a range of policy making bodies. Members are encouraged to get involved in their areas of interest.
Young Liberals
When I first joined the Liberal Party in 1990 I became involved with the Young Liberals, a dynamic group of young people. The organisation provides opportunities to learn debating and public speaking skills as well as hosting a number of social events.
You can find more information on their website.
